Hello! Let me introduce myself.
My name is Viola and I am a traditional artist based in Placer County, California. Born in Germany, I moved to the US in 1997 and have lived here ever since. Even as a little kid I was passionate about art and loved to draw, write, and engage in all sorts of creative projects. The one medium that always frustrated me was watercolors, so I gravitated towards other supplies, such as pencils and ink. Once I went through college and a graduate program for Speech and Language Pathology, and subsequently started work in the same field, my artistic endeavors unfortunately went on a looong hiatus. Even though I really missed art in my life, my career just took over.
In 2019 I decided on a whim to subscribe to a watercolor learning kit, and the rest is history! With the help of online tutorials (something that wasn’t available when I was younger), I fell in love with this tricky medium. I spent hours practicing and became much more confident. Today, I not only dabble in watercolors, but am also a live event illustrator, Certified Zentangle® Teacher, and professional face painter.
I love to share my skills and knowledge with others, and strongly believe that art is an acquired skill, rather than a talent. Everyone can make art! I offer a variety of services, including live event painting, introductory art classes (in person or virtual), commissioned paintings, professional face painting services, and more!
