Hello! Let me introduce myself.
My name is Viola and I am a traditional artist based in Placer County, California.
I’ve been drawn to art for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I was always drawing, writing, or working on some kind of creative project. Ironically, the one medium I could never quite get along with was watercolor. It frustrated me endlessly, so I happily stuck with pencils, ink, and just about anything else.
Then life got busy.
College led to graduate school in Speech-Language Pathology, which led to a career I love—but somewhere along the way, art quietly slipped out of my life. What I thought would be a short break turned into a very long, nearly two-decade hiatus.
I missed creating, though. A lot.
In 2019, almost on a whim, I subscribed to a watercolor learning kit. Thanks to online tutorials, endless practice, and a healthy amount of trial and error, the medium that had frustrated me most as a kid suddenly became the one I couldn’t put down. I fell completely in love with watercolor and spent countless hours learning, experimenting, and building my confidence.
Today, creativity is once again a huge part of my life. Along with watercolor painting, I work as a live event illustrator, Certified Zentangle® Teacher, and professional face painter.
One of my favorite things about art is sharing it with other people. I truly believe that art is a skill that can be learned—not a mysterious talent you either have or you don’t. With a little guidance, practice, and permission to make imperfect things, anyone can create.
Through my art business, I offer live event illustration, beginner-friendly art classes both in person and virtually, commissioned artwork, professional face painting, and other creative services.
Mostly, I hope to help people experience the same thing I rediscovered for myself: how much joy there is in simply making something.
